Ok, you know what? I was going to do my editor's desk tonight, I swear to god. But, see, it's 4am and I just finished laying out the rest of the zine. As you can imagine (having woken up at 7am today), I'm rather tired and, as such, don't have a lot to say. Who does at 4am (besides the drunk you're always stuck next to on the bus)?

In fact, I haven't had much to say in a little while. The most exciting thing in my life is that I have tonight's episode of Angel waiting for me when I get off work tomorrow. I spent last week stuck in my house because we had an ice storm and I drive a Honda. Nothing much interesting has happened, which I suppose is good (there was that ancient Chinese--or was it Japanese?--curse, "May you live in interesting times"). But times of stagnancy can be damaging and deluding, especially when there is beer and vicodin in the house.

To make this somewhat worth reading, I will mention that the little girl with the hat flying a kite was sketched by Kristine Nielsen, a sometimes member of Scrimshaw Diaries and always good friend, who once picked me up from the airport on 10 hours notice (which was halfway into my trip, never fly KLM from Israel to LA). She has no idea it is on here, and probably doesn't even remember that she drew it, almost 7 years ago, on a little piece of scrap paper in my dorm room. She's actually the inspiration for doing the zine in the first place, in a rather odd, roundabout way, but I owe her thanks all the same, hence the squiggle in my column.

But anyway, did you ever notice that when things are not very exciting, you notice all the interesting little things that do happen? Well, I do. But right now all I notice is that my head keeps drifting towards my trusty lap top, and I realize that that is likely a sign that if I don't go to sleep soon, my body won't wait for me to catch up.

There is now a cat in my lap. We live in interesting times.

So this is me, not much to say. And I guess this works as an editor's desk after all, though the English Major in me is going to kick my ass in the morning. But whatever, I'm going to bed. I hope you enjoy the new issue more than these random babblings; we promise not to let the quality drop now that we're monthly.

Not that we really could, of course.
