The Working Title
Everyone Here Is Wrong EP
Redemption Records

There is a neat interplay between pop-punk and bouncy acoustic rock on this EP from Charleston, SC's The Working Title, most notably combined in "Beloved", a quirky and lovable track that was featured in the film "American Wedding", but it is often overshadowed by big rock breakdowns that feel slightly out of place. Lead singer Joel Hamilton has a good voice, but occasionally falls victim to "Eddie Vedderism", most apparant on "Never Forget", a weakly constructed mainstream rock song. The rest of the tracks on this record have a much more interesting and engaging feel to them, ranging from pop rock to more morose folky grooves, though some of the rhythms border on repetitive.

Still, there is something quite appealing about a lot of their songs, like the eerily familiar "Rebuttal", which is a very radio friendly and catchy tune with some good writing behind it. Their one-sheet says they will be releasing their full-length on Universal, which makes sense. This is music for the masses, and as such is far more palatable than most of the crap that makes it into the big money major label markets.
