The Method and Result
The Things You Miss EP
KiraKira disc/The Losing Blueprint

Married couples making music has become rather kitsch these days. The real tragedy of it is how bad so many of them are (Mates of State aside). This fact made me immediately skeptical of Kirakira's Method and Result, which perhaps made the record tha much more of a surprise.

Megan and Mason Wendell (how revoltingly cute) are a married team of musicians who effortlessly blend female fronted indie vocals with electronic pop-indie music. The effect is shocking in how truly fluid it is: these songs sound neither forced nor gimmicky, but natural. Megan's beautiful, haunting vocals make each track sharp and driven, and the often soft instrument/electronic music supports each pitch shift, held out note, and detail.

The experience of The Method and Result is not unlike a femal-fronted Postal Service, but with more attention to the electronica behind it; each track has its own feel, and each feel is such a cross between indie-diva vocals and driven electro-pop. A beautiful record that leaves you breathless, and highly anticipating a hopefully upcoming full-length.
