Greg Palast
Weapon of Mass Instruction
Alternative Tentacles/AK Press

Alternative Tentacles delivers another very important spoken word record for our troubled times. Weapon of Mass Instruction is a spoken word performance by Greg Palast, a name which has sadly gone unnoticed in his home country of America. Palast, an investigative journalist for the BBC World Service, Newsnight, and the Guardian UK, is a well-researched pundit for truth who has been widely censored in the US (the two minute intro track, a grtatuitous introduction from a radio guest spot, describes several investigations Palast spearheaded which were not allowed to run in the US media). Palast probes some of the most interesting and controversial topics of the last three years, and brings to the front facts that we ALL should know, yet have never heard.

Palast broke several important stories in the post 9/11 era, all of which were excluded from US media, including how the 2000 election was stolen for Bush, the connections between Al Queida and the US, and several examples of corporate corruption (all of which are gone into in detail on the album). He comes across as intelligent, charismatic, and even funny; at times it plays like a bitter comedy record, say a porn-less Bill Hicks performance, but with the experience and facts to back up every claim.

With a vitally important election around the corner, Palast is a voice that should be heard. I challenge liberals to pick up this album, and conservatives to listen to it and, instead of replying "that's ridiculous", research what he says and found out if he's right. I did, and he is.
